For two years I have wanted to take the boys to Wilson's Creek National Battlefield near Springfield. Wilson's Creek is the site of the first major Civil War battle west of the Mississippi River. Well, this year in home school was are studying American history from the early 1800's to modern times and we are finally at the Civil War period. What a bonus that this piece of history is so close to home. Todd took the day off and we all headed to Wilson's Creek. Perhaps this is one of my favorite things about home school, field trips that enhance the learning that is happening at home.
