Almost the end...

There are 6 days left of summer 2010. SIX DAYS! Wow, it has been a great summer and it has gone by fast (for the most part). When I think back on this summer at K-West, here are some of my highlights.

1. Watching my boys interact with K-West staff. Todd and I can't believe how blessed the boys are to have so many amazing people who care about our boys. Carter and Colton often forget to eat at meals because they are so busy making their rounds - talking to friends, using an imaginary light saber to fight Ward Wiebe, doing the "anaconda squeeze", asking for special items from the kitchies, etc. Here's a snapshot of our friends!



2. Meeting the Lemley family! Amazing family that we had the pleasure of meeting this summer after Hunter and Connor were at K-Kountry the same time as some of their kids. I want to be the kind of parents that they are!

3. My office girls - Esther, Kat, Whitney, Katelyn, Kalynn, Beth Ann, Lydia, Whitney E. The office was super fun with all of these gals. (Esther, thanks for tagging me in so many ridiculous pictures on Facebook. Ha!) Oh my word, it was a blessing to work with all of them. Lots of fun and laughter.

4. Hunter and Connor's term at K-Kountry. Great counselors! Great adventures! They are already signed up for next summer. Carter is signed up as well, though very nervous about the idea of kamp.

5. Learning the names of God with my boys. Some of the names were pretty hard to understand, but it provided great times of conversation where we looked at scriptures that showed us different qualities/ attributes of God.

6. Our "What did we do today" list! This is the 2nd summer that we have done this and the boys love it! We tape a long piece of white paper on a door and then list each day (July 1, July 2, July 3, etc.). At the end of the day the boys draw pictures of what they did or where they went. A visual reminder of their summer adventures. We have pictures of bikes, ziplines, tubing, spaghetti (it doesn't have to be a major event to make the list), kid-sitters, etc.

7. Spook's kindness to our family. Colton asks almost every day if he can help Spook feed the pigs and feed the goat...and she always includes him. Not to mention how many times the Fireworks Fairy (aka Spook) delivered new fireworks to the front door of our cabin.

8. Seeing God at work at kamp. Watching how God would answer small prayers like finding a kamper's lost IPhone or hearing the bell ring when a kamper accepted Christ.

9. Working with Alexis! What an amazing thing to get to spend this summer with Alexis and watching her serve as a counselor at K-West.

10. My love/ hate relationship with K-West store and Lost and Found. Aargh! These things drive me crazy, but with my personality I also love them because they require hard work, detail, follow-through, lists, etc. (Thank you to all the store gals - Esther, Whitney E. and Lydia and to my Lost and Found/ UPS helper - Beth Ann.)

11. 15 year alumni status - Brapp and Beene.

12. Planning a family vacation. We are finishing up the details of our Rapp road trip after kamp. We leave August 14th and we are headed east. We will stop in Nashville, Asheville, Charlotte, Hilton Head, Atlanta, Memphis and then back to Branson. Lots of family to visit and days to play at the beach. Hunter is so very excited for this trip. He tells me every night that he can't wait for our family vacation.
