Father/ Son Weekend

Perhaps the highlight of the year for Hunter and Connor is the annual "Father/Son Canoe Trip." This year, there was no "canoe" due to high water in the Buffalo River, but there was still plenty of fun to be had. Sleeping in a big tent, eating junk food and not brushing teeth, playing with sticks in a campfire may just be the dream scenario for young boys.
Instead of canoeing, we went on a hike on Round Top Mountain, played in a playground, and skipped rocks at the Little Buffalo River.
The highlight for Hunter was playing capture the flag at night in a giant field. Hunter really got after it protecting his flag and "tackling" a couple guys on the opposing team. It was good to see him being aggressive!

The second favorite thing Hunter did was chase a pack of goats in a field next to the campground. The Mayor of Jasper who apparently owned the goats kindly allowed our kids to roam his field. Several of the boys were able to grab some of the goats by their horns. Hunter caught 3 goats, and felt a great sense of manly accomplishment!


Here's our new tent with plenty of room, but a leaky mattress that needed to be refilled with air often.
